What is SAFETY RADIO SURVEY?
It is the yearly inspection of the radio communication equipment on board as required by the classification society of the vessel. Carrying out Safety Radio Survey of radio installations onboard ships for conformity with the IMO’s Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) and appropriate national regulations.
What is SHORE BASED MAINTENANCE?
Shore Based Maintenance is the agreement / certificate needed on board in order to fulfill the maintenance requirements as mentioned in the “SOLAS GMDSS” regulations (CHAPTER IV Reg. 15) and the Radio Maintenance Guide Lines (RES. A702-17), for GMDSS equipment sailing in Sea Area A2-A3-A4.
The attending Radio Surveyor’s can also issue annual EPIRB test certificates and VDR certification.
